歷史背景Historical background
蒲台石刻位於蒲台島南端海岸，長久以來漁民之間流傳島上藏有石刻，至一九六〇年代終在島的南端發現。石刻分為左右兩組，中間由一道約七十厘米闊的石縫分隔。左邊一組由線條構成，狀似神態化的動物與魚；右邊一組則以螺旋紋互相連結組成，兩組紋飾各異。石刻於一九七九年列為法定古蹟。由於未見文字佐證，其確切年代未能確定。
The Rock Carvings on Po Toi are found on the coast at the southern end of Po Toi Island. Fisherfolk had long told of carvings there, and they were discovered in the 1960s. They form two groups divided by a rock fracture about 70cm wide: the left shows lines resembling stylized animals and fish, while the right is composed of interlocking spirals. The motifs differ between the two. The carvings were declared a monument in 1979; without any written record, their exact age remains undetermined.
