歷史背景Historical background
廣福祠（又稱百姓廟）位於上環太平山街，一八九五年由華人精英集資建成，供奉地藏王、濟公、綏靖伯及太歲等神祇，並安放早年在港離世的華工神主牌。廟宇早年為病人、貧困無依者和孤寡老人提供庇護及診治服務，其後促成東華醫院成立。廣福祠採用香港廟宇中少有的三進兩院一開間格局，前廳正脊上的石灣陶塑是最矚目的外觀特色。二〇二六年列為法定古蹟。
Kwong Fook Tsz, also known as Pak Shing Temple, stands on Tai Ping Shan Street, Sheung Wan. Built in 1895 with funds raised by Chinese elites, it holds the soul tablets of Chinese workers who died in Hong Kong in earlier years and honours deities including Ksitigarbha, Chai Kung, Shui Ching Pak and Tai Sui. In its early days it gave shelter and medical help to the sick, destitute and elderly, and it later contributed to the founding of Tung Wah Hospital. The temple has a three-hall, two-courtyard, one-bay layout, rare among Hong Kong temples, and its most striking external feature is the Shiwan ceramic decoration on the ridge of the entrance hall. It was declared a monument in 2026.
